In this section, we'll cover recipe tips, additions, substitutions, variations, storage, and nutritional info for your vegan dill dip

Recipe tips and tricks

For an optimal vegan dill dip, consider these recipe pointers:

  • Opt for fresh dill when available: Fresh dill imparts a superior flavor, offering a more vibrant and robust taste compared to dried dill.
  • Chill the dip before serving: Achieve the finest taste and texture by refrigerating your dill dip for a minimum of 30 minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to meld and contributes to a slightly thicker consistency.
  • Prepare the dip in advance for enhanced flavor: For the most delectable results, consider letting it marinate in the refrigerator overnight, maximizing the flavor profile.
  • After refrigeration, give the dip a quick stir if it separates before serving.

By adhering to these suggestions, you can craft a delightful dip that will undoubtedly satisfy your palate.

Recipe substitutions

Here are some substitutions that can be used in the recipe:

Fresh garlic can be substituted with garlic powder* (1 clove about 1/4 tsp garlic powder).

If Cocojune* isn't available, use other plain non-dairy yogurts like cashew or almond yogurt.

Dried dill* is a suitable substitute for fresh dill (use 2 tsp), but remember it's more potent.
Substitutions will offer a unique flavor and texture twist to your dip.

Recipe variations

If you're interested in recipe variations, consider these options to experiment with adjusting both texture and flavors.

  • Adjust thickness with more or less coconut cream or add a vegan sour cream for more creaminess.
  • Experiment with garlic, salt, pepper, herbs, and spices for seasoning.
  • Use a spice grinder* for efficient prep and/or quicker blending methods like a food processor*, blender*, or immersion blender*

Try ingredient adjustments for unique variations:

  • Avocado Dill Dip: Blend in ripe avocado.
  • Spicy Dill Dip: Add cayenne or red pepper flakes.
  • Greek-Style Dill Dip: Mix in cucumber, olives, and lemon juice.
  • Artichoke Dill Dip: Use chopped artichoke hearts for a chunky dip.
  • Lemony Dill Dip: Increase lemon juice for citrusy notes.
  • Sweet Potato Dill Dip: Add mashed sweet potato.

This dip can also double as a salad dressing by blending with apple cider vinegar* and lemon juice.

How to store leftovers

Store any leftover dip in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 7 days. If it separates, stir before serving. Extra dill can be kept in a covered container for up to three days in the refrigerator.
